WHAT I’VE LEARNED (SO FAR) FROM FOLLOWING MY GUT

Upon completing high school, I was struck with the question that hits most people — what am I supposed to do now? I went back and forth on pursuing some of my passions (music, recording, design) or taking the “safer” path and going into business (or…science?). After taking plenty of time to think and explore the world, I decided to go with my true passion, the thing I knew I could be happy doing — design.

I attended school and fell head over heels in love with design. I couldn’t wait to make something of this path.

Then, I graduated and was struck with a similar question as I asked after high school — what am I supposed to do now?

Many of my friends were struggling to get jobs in the industry and some even gave up entirely. I decided I would take my time to further my skills and start to build relationships with people that I could someday work with. Working in a coffee shop and booking live music, my design skills slowly started to creep into everything I was involved with. I started designing gig posters and album artwork for bands. My career had begun.

Fast forward a year, and I had landed my first big project. It was the catalyst that brought on countless opportunities and helped launched my freelance design business.

Since then, I have been able to grow my business into a full-time practice and I get to work with amazing clients doing what I love everyday. Anything can be accomplished by believing in yourself & working hard. I had to trust my gut along the way, and did it ever pay off.
